Dennistoun Cost of Living Event

During this particularly cold snap I would like to invite you to my Cost of Living Advice and Support event I’m hosting in the Reidvale Community Centre [G31 1QW] on Thursday 8th February from 3pm -7pm. The cost of living just hasn’t gone down enough and coupled with the decision of the UK Government to withdraw energy bill support this year, I feel it is only right to make sure that my constituents are aware of every bit of help they can get this winter and beyond.

We have invited a number of organisations who specifically help and advise on maximising incomes and saving money, whether that is through energy efficiency, benefits advice or help accessing grants and funds.

The aim of the event is to make it as easy as possible for local people in Dennistoun to get the right advice for them, and it will be a great opportunity to meet you in person. As well as the many organisations listed who will be attending, I will be there with my team to meet with you and help with any issues you might be needing a hand with. We deal with all kinds of issues for constituents, and if there is something we can’t help you with then we’ll know the people who can.

I am particularly keen to talk to any pensioners who haven’t applied for Pension Credit, or checked if they are eligible. This is something I have campaigned on for years and I am still fighting to ensure that every pensioner in Glasgow North East who is eligible gets the money they are entitled to. There is almost £8 million worth of Pension Credit going unclaimed in Glasgow North East alone and I would like to see that in the pockets of my constituents rather than going back to the UK Treasury for them to waste!

Please do come along and say hello, it would be great to see you there. If you have any questions, or if you have an issue you need help or advice with just get in touch with me.
